Long-time Telluride business has more than just shirts
Telluride souvenirs are a lasting part of many trips to Telluride, and they come in many forms from T-shirts to glassware and, of course, post cards.
To find a healthy selection of Telluride items and more, Shirtworks of Telluride on Colorado Avenue has it all. The long-time Telluride business is located at 126 W. Colorado Ave., and they carry T-shirts, hats, glassware and assorted other items. Though Telluride and its surrounding mountains and the state of Colorado are the main themes of much of the Shirtworks selection, everything from humor to irony can also be found. Owner Kimberly Harris said "Shirtworks’ inventory and themes change with the seasons but their average shirt price is around $20."
“Usually the best seller is the pickaxe logo shirt,” Harris said. “It represents Telluride from its mining days. That is always our best selling shirt. But depending upon the season, particular ski shirts or summer shirts also are popular.”
Kimberly has owned Shirtworks since 2002, and she said that the business has been in Telluride for about 25 years total. Harris said she has gained a loyal following through the years and seen families come back year after year. She said it’s been nice to see many of her customers grow up as they visit Telluride.
“It’s kind of a funny deal,” Kimberly commented saying. “The parents buy their kids Telluride shirts year after year. And when they get ready to go to college, they take the shirts, they cut them up and make quilts and stuff and send the kids off to school. It’s kind of an interesting thing."
